Summer is an excellent time to visit colleges since there are more opportunities to go than during the school year. During the summer the student population reduces dramatically, making it both an advantage and disadvantage to visiting during the summer. With the majority of students gone it will be easier to ask questions during tours and have greater access to university staff like a counselor, adviser or a professor.
However there are some disadvantages by visiting in the summer. It will be harder to get a feel for the college during the long spring and fall semesters, since the numbers of students attending summer classes are few.
A career trip can be a very important experience for a student. By visiting a business and seeing for themselves what their future career could look like it can either reinforce their decision to pursue that career or realize that it is not what they thought it would be. By going on a career trip it will help the student with their decision to follow what they believe to be the right choice and narrow down the choices of professions that are available for them.
Going on an international trip during the summer will expose you to new lifestyles and customs. Going on international trips can ave a huge impact on a student even if the focus of the trip isn't studying they will still be learning. By travelling to new places a person will see how others live and learn about other countries history and customs.
